WONDERWORLD
This year’s Riverlights will include an interactive art installation/photobooth inside a shipping container which visitors can use as a background for photos. This installation will use masses of lights and decorative objects as art materials to create a vibrant, colourful, bedazzling spectacle.
At festivals across the world people put up lights and celebrate their cultures. At Christmas and New Year, millions of fairy lights are hung up in celebration. Light displays are also used in the Lunar New Year festivities of diverse Asian cultures. During the Hindu festival of Diwali colourful lights are ubiquitous and during ‘Eid and Ramadan colourful lights adorn houses in a mass of colour and light. Wonderworld would intermingle culturally specific light decorations into a vivid kaleidoscopic spectacle of light. Combining the decorative light cultures and festivals in a very demotic energetic and pulsating display of lights. The work will comprise a group of visually dense assemblages consisting of accretions of celebratory objects and lights installed within a large shipping container.
